Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, used and protected when you use the websites, mobile apps, desktop software and other digital services (together, the "Services") offered by Kenshoio.com ("Kenshoio", "we", "us"). We design our Services to collect as little personal data as possible.
1. Who we are
The data controller is Carlos Miguel Carvalho Ferreira de Castro, trading as Kenshoio.com, established in Portugal (Tax ID / NIF: 227034520; address: Maia, Portugal). You can reach us at contact@kenshoio.com.
2. Scope and app-specific notices
This policy applies to all Kenshoio Services, including our website at kenshoio.com, current and future mobile apps, software and online services. Some Services may have their own privacy notice or in-app disclosures (for example, when an app asks for a device permission). Where an app-specific notice differs from this policy, the app-specific notice applies to that app.
3. Data we collect
Data you give us
- Communications: your name, email address and the content of your message when you contact us or request support.
- Account data: if a Service offers accounts, credentials and profile details you choose to provide.
- Purchases: if a Service offers paid features, payments are handled by the store or payment provider. We do not receive or store your full card details.
Data collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser or device type, operating system, language, app version, and timestamps of requests.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data.
- Usage data: aggregated or pseudonymised information about how features are used, only where a Service includes analytics.
- Device identifiers: such as an advertising ID or app instance ID, only where a Service uses services that need them. In that case, the app's own notice will say so.
- Advertising data: in apps that show ads through ad networks such as Google AdMob, the ad provider may collect your advertising ID, IP address (and the approximate location derived from it), device information and ad interactions. See section 7.
Device permissions
Apps may ask for access to features such as camera, microphone, photos, files or location. We request a permission only when a feature needs it, and you can withdraw it at any time in your device settings.
Data that stays on your device
Some of our apps, such as our electronics calculators, work entirely on your device. What you enter and calculate is not sent to us, and the app reads your device language setting only to show the interface in your language.
What we do not intentionally collect
We do not intentionally collect sensitive data (such as health, biometric, political or religious data), and we do not carry out automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. How and why we use data
- Provide and maintain the Services (performance of a contract, or our legitimate interests).
- Answer your requests and give support (contract, or legitimate interests).
- Fix bugs, measure stability and improve the Services (legitimate interests, or consent where required).
- Protect security and prevent abuse or fraud (legitimate interests).
- Comply with the law and platform rules, such as Google Play and Apple App Store requirements (legal obligation, or legitimate interests).
- Show advertising and affiliate links that help fund free apps (consent where the law requires it, otherwise legitimate interests).
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that took place before. We do not use your data to train third-party AI models, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Our main website currently does not set cookies and does not use analytics. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first. Services that use cookies, SDKs or similar technologies will describe them in their own notice, and you can manage them through your browser or device settings.
We honour browser signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) as a request to opt out of sale or sharing, where applicable.
6. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell your personal data for money. We share data only in these cases:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract: website hosting (GitHub Pages), email services (including Google), app distribution platforms (Google Play, Apple App Store), and, in apps that use them, analytics and crash reporting tools (for example Firebase). Our website also loads a typeface from Google Fonts, which means your IP address is sent to Google when the page loads.
- Advertising partners: in apps that show ads, ad networks such as Google AdMob receive the data described in section 7.
- Legal reasons: where required by law, court order or a valid request from authorities, or to protect rights, safety and security.
- Business changes: if Kenshoio is merged, sold or reorganised, data may be transferred to the successor, which must honour this policy.
Some privacy laws treat the use of advertising identifiers for personalised ads as "sharing" or "sale". Section 7 explains your choices.
7. Advertising and affiliate links
Some of our apps are free and are supported by advertising and affiliate links. The store listing of each app says whether it contains ads.
Affiliate links
Some apps show banners or links to products or shops (for example, electronic components) through affiliate programs. If you tap one, you leave the app and go to the partner's website or app, which has its own privacy policy and may use cookies to credit us a commission on qualifying purchases. It costs you nothing extra. The partner sends us commission reports that do not identify you. Affiliate links are marked as advertising or sponsored content.
Ad networks
Some apps may use ad networks such as Google AdMob. Ad networks may use your advertising ID, IP address, device information and ad interactions to deliver, measure and, if you allow it, personalise ads. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Your choices
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: we ask for your consent through a consent form before ads that use your data are shown, and you can change your choice later in the app.
- Device settings: on Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalisation in your device's Google or Privacy settings. On iOS, you can refuse tracking in the app's permission prompt or in Settings.
- United States and other regions: you can opt out of sale or sharing through your device settings, a browser or device GPC signal, or by emailing us.
8. International transfers
We operate from Portugal and our Services are available worldwide, so your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States. When we transfer data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on an adequacy decision (such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for certified recipients), Standard Contractual Clauses, or another safeguard recognised by law.
9. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to resolve your request and for a reasonable period afterwards. Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted or anonymised after it is closed, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. Diagnostic data is kept for the retention period of the tool that collects it.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted access, to protect your data. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
11. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to give you a copy of it. Depending on your location, you may also have the following rights:
- EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR): restrict or object to processing, data portability, and withdraw consent at any time.
- California and other US states (CCPA/CPRA and similar laws): know what we collect, delete or correct your data, opt out of sale or sharing, and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. You may use an authorised agent to make a request.
- Brazil (LGPD): confirmation of processing, anonymisation or deletion of unnecessary data, portability, and information about sharing.
- Other countries (such as Canada, Australia, Japan, South Africa): the rights granted by your local privacy law.
To make a request, email contact@kenshoio.com. We may need to verify your identity first. We will reply within the time the law requires, generally within one month (45 days in California). For mobile apps, you can also stop data collection by revoking permissions, clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority. In Portugal, this is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).
12. Children
Our Services are not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age of digital consent in your country (up to 16). We do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it. If we release an app aimed at children, it will have its own privacy notice that complies with the applicable child-protection laws.
13. Third-party links and services
Our Services may link to websites or services run by others. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our Services or the law change. We will always show the "Last updated" date at the top, and for material changes we will give additional notice, for example on our website or in the app, and ask for consent again where required.
